"Broštik"
BREAKFAST FOR A GREAT START TO THE DAY In Solčava, breakfast "Broštik" has always been an important meal of the day. At your request, a basket full of Solčava delicacies will be waiting for you at the door at the time of your choice to give you energy for the day ahead. We use only locally selected ingredients. The basket is filled with local meats, cheeses and cottage cheese from the surrounding farms. Several types of bread are served alongside. The vegetables are grown in the garden of our grandmother Marika. She also takes care of the hens so that we always have fresh eggs. Juice and jam are made especially for you from local fruit. The cakes are baked according to the recipes that used to be used in the tavern Pri Rogovilcu.
Sauna
FOR TOTAL RELAXATION A Finnish sauna is also available for private use on request. The sauna area is thoughtfully designed in an Alpine style, with a mix of pine wood and stone. After the sauna, you can refresh yourself with a cold shower made of wooden cobblestones, such as those used in the past on the Solčava farms. You can continue relaxing with a glass of wine, in the room by the fireplace or on the outdoor terrace by the fireplace. We make sure our minibar is always well-stocked with home-brewed beer and quality wine.
THE STORY
THE STORY
We appreciate
what nature gives us
Old house Pri Rogovilcu was built in 1912. It was designed by local architect and civil engineer Gregor Plesnik locally known as Knezov. There were seven other such houses in the Solčava region, all built according to the same plan. Natural materials such as wood and stone were used as the basis for construction, and earthy colours were used to ensure that the houses were in harmony with their surroundings. The renovation followed the old principles and the house was rebuilt with the help of environmental experts. We used Solčava wood in the construction. The architect designed the furniture according to the principle of simplicity, using solid spruce treated with wax.
In the past fire was of primary importance for people living on farm. Families were spending long and cozy evenings in front of brick ovens, farmhouse stoves and open fireplaces. If you turn on electric fireplace in your room or light on open fireplace on the terrace you will sense some of the intimacy and coziness from old farmhouse. The old Pri Rogovilcu Inn was known for its good, homemade food, as confirmed by the many famous guests who visited the restaurant. In the days of Marica and Martin Prodnik, fresh trout was the main culinary feature. There was a pond across the road from the Rogovilc stream, which always provided fresh fish. Other food was also largely home-grown. Martin was happy to produce home-made meats, and our grandmother Marica still collects herbs for tea and home-made brandy. We also follow this tradition. We serve breakfasts that are largely based on ingredients from the local area.
Not only with food service but we also do our best to build relationships with our guests in a pristine and humble way. At Pri Rogovilcu everyone in wholeheartedly welcomed. We love to spend time with our guests for sharing useful tips about Solčavsko region or simply for a small talk.
